TREATMENTS

In order to diagnose a substance abuse disorder, two of the following criteria must be present for 12 months: 

• • Risky use 

• • Social or interpersonal problems related to use  

• • Inability to fulfill major obligations due to use 

• • Withdrawal 

• • Tolerance (increased use of the substance) 

• • Repeated intent to stop using the substance or control its use 

• • Physical or psychological problems related to use 

• • Discontinuation of other activities debido al consumo 

It is classified into three degrees of severity, depending on the number of criteria present in the patient: mild (2-3), moderate (4-5) and severe (6 or more).
