MAJOR DEPRESSION DISORDER 

 

Major depression disorder is a mood disorder characterized by mood changes that last more than two weeks such as sadness; loss of interest in activities; irritability; changes in appetite; sleep disruptions such as insomnia, sleep interruption or waking up very early, difficulty getting up in the morning or sleepiness during the day; lack of concentration and attention; lack of energy; feeling of restlessness; low self-worth; guilt; and very often, thoughts of death or suicide attempt. 

Treatment is multidisciplinary, with both psychotherapy interventions as well as antidepressant medication.
