ACUTE PHASE
Care is provided for the patient in a critical state. Here we stabilize and provide primary treatment to patients in an acute phase of their mental disorder and/or associated physical illness through weekly medical-psychiatric consultations as needed.
Once the patient has been stabilized, we provide comprehensive treatment along three lines:
- Psychiatric care
- Psychological support
- Family approach
Both diagnosis and treatment are performed under the principle of personalized medicine, using pharmacogenomic studies, electroencephalography, transcranial magnetic stimulation, neuropsychological rehabilitation, imagery and other interventions.
Psychosocial interventions are adapted according to each diagnosis and the characteristics of each individual and family, offering options to safeguard the integrity of both.
During the process, appointments are arranged in the doctor’s office to assist the patient and their family, and evaluate progress by means of various medical disciplines; individual, group and family therapy; and creating awareness of the illness.
Grupo Punto de Partida has a variety of programs, and a joint decision is made with respect to continuing the chosen program or following with another therapeutic program in another of our clinics.
On finishing, the patient is offered the possibility to continue treatment with other ex-patients in groups for continuous treatment and prevention of relapse, while families have the option of lifelong psycho-educational workshops.
DUAL PATHOLOGY
The term “dual pathology” refers to patients suffering a substance abuse disorder (addiction) and another mental disorder simultaneously or throughout their lives.
Substance abuse disorders most often present with other mental disorders in at least 70% of cases.
The dual pathology approach allows us to provide personalized treatment that considers the individual and environmental situation of the patient, instead of concentrating only on the substances consumed.
